What is Google Product Search?
Google Product Search is an online shopping engine offered by Google to help shoppers find and compare products, quickly and easily on the Web. It can be accessed here or through the shopping link at the top of many Google pages.
Smashion automatically submits your listings to Google Product Search, allowing millions of Internet shoppers to discover your listings without being on the Smashion site. This service is offered to all sellers, free of charge.
How does it work?
Whenever you create a new listing, Smashion submits it to Google Product Search behind the scene. Smashion also automatically updates the Google product database with any changes you make. When your listing is sold, suspended, or deleted, Smashion will take it off Google Product Search accordingly.
From the time you create or update a listing, it takes Smashion up to a couple of hours to submit the new or updated listing to Google. After that it may take Google up to 24 hours to index the listing and make it searchable.
Does it always work?
Well, that depends the content of a listing. The overwhelming majority of the listings submitted by Smashion are accepted by Google.
Your listing will be rejected by Google if it doesn't comply with Google's editorial policies, such as the following:
- The title or description contains what Google considers promotional text, such as "great deal", "on sale", or "free shipping". "Free shipping" is the number one reason that listings get rejected. It is really not neccesary to say "free shipping" if you already entered $0 for shipping costs.
- The title contains unnecessary punctuations that serve no standard grammatical purposes, for example, using asterisks to emphasize. Don't use exclamation points in the title at all.
- The title or description is all uppercase. Use normal sentence case or lower case instead.
Our editorial staff may attempt to correct a listing from time to time, but the responsibility is ultimately yours.
