I came across these bags called Yadu. From what I understand, these bags are made from fabric and old clothes bought from thrift shops, then sewn together by various designers. They look very sturdy, and what's more, all bags are uniquely designed so it's guaranteed you won't have a duplicate any where!

I love how hobo-ish they look but still so very stylish. I wonder if they ship internationally?

A couple of years ago, my mother brought me several canvas bags, which she told me to bring along inside my regular bag so when I shop, I can use those instead of having the store put my purchases in paper or plastic bags. These were plain, brown totes that were rather embarrassing for a fashion conscious girl like me, but I wanted to do my part to lessen the amount of waste we put out.

Thankfully, there's a lot of great looking canvas bags around that you can get now. No more cringing at how plain they look. Here's a few you can check out.

Okay, so I just saw this picture of Reese Witherspoon carrying a Chloe PYTHON bag in California. Firstly, I was obviously under the impression that Chloe is an environment/animal friendly brand and secondly, python is illegal in California!

Reese Witherspoon is under fire for this bag, particularly from PETA. FYI, the bag is called 'Paratay' and retails for around $4,000.

Stella McCartney is well-known as an environmentalist. She never uses animal skin, fur and even goes to great lengths to reduce her use of plastic in her clothing line(Read about her castor oil sunglasses here).

But because she is a luxury designer, her stuff carry high designer prices. Do you think that the eco-friendliness of her pieces can justify the expensive prices? Or do you expect to get real leather, real suede and etc. at those price points?

I really try not to buy bottled water but there are times when I have no choice but to buy one. One example is at the airport - I hate it that airport establishments don't serve regular water and you have to buy overpriced bottled water!

I was just googling for new materials available in making bags when I stumbled upon a site which talks about the use of water hyachith leather. So finally, a leather which doesn't come from animals. I honestly didn't know they exist. Amazing!

I came across Bluma Project while shopping online the other day. They're not exactly a "green and groovy" label but more of a socially conscious movement.

This fashion brand provides work and a means of earning a living to women in impoverished places in Rwanda and Ghana. The pieces themselves are stunning and surprisingly affordable. Many are made of natural materials such as wood, glass and paper.

I actually first came across this company in an AT&T commercial. Its called Tom's Shoes. It's a company that makes canvas shoes and for every pair of shoes that gets purchased, the company donates a pair of shoes to children in need (usually in developing countries.) I was looking for some t-shirt ideas for a design I want to make for a college reunion get-together. With a few friends who are vegan, I wanted to make sure that I'd have materials that would be ok with them.

I came across Positivitees during my search. Their shirts are made in partnership with non-profit orgs, and 10% of the company's profit is donated towards that organization. Most of thier stuff is sold in yoga studios and spas, and online of course.

Their shirts are 100% organic, and they use water-based dyes. Information about the charity the shirt supports is printed on a label.

Has anyone tried anything from The Laundress?

It's an eco-chic line of detergents, fabric softeners, scents - basically anything that you use for doing the laundy.

I came across their Denim Wash the other day and was very much interested with how it was specifically created for denim. It supposedly cleans and washes your jeans but also gives it that awesome worn-in feeling.

Finding the perfect jeans is a big deal to me and I am willing to spend more if I do come across one that I like. But I also want to retain its newness as much as I can, so I'm wondering if the Denim Wash will do the job.

Emma Watson is one of the creative advisors of the said line and they are actually not just about creating clothes and accessories. They are also up to addressing environmental and humanitarian issues. What's great about them is that they make their stuffs by hand like setting up, dying, and weaving.

Hi everyone! I came across Naya Shoes while shopping online the other day and thought I'd share it with everyone here.

They were founded only in March of this year but they've already been making a lot of noise in the eco-fashion industry. A handful of celebs have been spotted wearing Naya Shoes and of course, that got people curious as to what Naya Shoes are all about!

Naya makes their shoes out of eco-friendly materials such as recycled rubber, vegetable tanned leather and water-based glues.Their fall collection is mostly romantic and vintage-inspired (which is usually the trend 'round this time of year) and I think they're all beautiful!

I agree with Irislogic, the collection won't make you go WOW but, if the price is acceptable, if it helps create job, and if they use organic and sustainable material (when possible) -- I would love to be wearing one of the pieces.

As you all said, the good thing about the collection is the comfortability but yea, it needs some color. :)

Have you heard about EDUN? It's a for-profit fashion line launched by Ali Hewson and her husband Bono (yes, of U2) with the aim to "encourage trade with Africa and raise awareness of the possibilities there." (source)

The brand boasts of 85% of their clothing is manufactured in Africa, while 15% is sourced from other locations, mainly Asia. They also source organic and sustainable material when possible.

There's been some controversy with EDUN about how much is truly made in Africa, but I think it's been settled. Haven't had time to really research, but here's some of their clothes courtesy of the site's Lookbook.

It's very wearable, and no fuss. While I think it could use more colors (after all, many of Africa's national costumes are quite colorful), I'd wear this. I just wonder how much it costs?

I saw their new line and yes they do have a few basic clothes that claim to be environment friendly. They didn’t stand out and they weren’t real fashion pieces but I think it all depends on how you dress. I’m a fan of layering and even plain clothes become nice when layered well…

So I have been hoping on the 'green' train and I have found a clothing line that I absolutely adore. Its called Alternative Earth Apparel. They sell some of their pieces at a Boston boutique called 344 (formally known as Jasmine Sola). They have so really nice selection of clothing and they are very pro-active about labor laws and protecting the environment. Definitely check it out. Every little bit helps make a change! :]

A water bottle I bought from the mall was made of resin. It was non-toxic and was supposedly a good water bottle. Unfortunately, it started to smell! I once carried iced latte in it. I drank it after a couple of hours and suffered food poisoning. Even plain water starts to smell after a couple of waters, even if you haven't sipped from the bottle yet! Yikes!
