An Interview with Kimberly of A Bit Coquettish
A blogger, fashion enthusiast, freelance writer, and once the fashion editorial intern for two indie magazines. Almost always in heels and armed with the largest possible coffee in one hand, journal in the other, there's a great chance you'll catch me dancing somewhere. I'm Kim - single, living, loving, and learning. I believe in living coquettishly and flirting with life. Come visit at A Bit Coquettish!
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Kimberly: I'm a full-time college student (hellooo, freshman year!), and drink caffeinated beverages like it's my job (it's unfortunate I don't get paid for it). On the side I work as a dancer for a DJ company. Writing and dancing have always been my passion.
How did you come up with your blog name?
Kimberly: I'm a Francophile - everything in the culture is just beautiful. And it so happens to be that everyone I know thinks I'm a bit (this is where my friend laughs) of a flirt. Tease. Etc. Thus ABC seems appropriate - it's a pretty euphemism for the aforementioned & fits my fashion & lifestyle approach.
What is your nerdiest hobby?
Kimberly: Spending all day at museums and art galleries (all the while wishing I could spend the night), scribbling notes, reading philosophical books (Sarte, Voltaire, Thoreau!), watching marathons of CSI, and spending summer days at the library. I am not ashamed!
Where are you from and what are your top three favorite places to shop in your city?
Kimberly: The oh-so-glamorous suburbia of New Jersey. And since we Jersey girls love our malls, my favorite stores at the moment are: Windsor, H&M, and New York & Company. Affordability on a college budget is a must!
What label(s)/store(s) do you favor?
Kimberly: Michael Kors (!!). He does classic American ready-to-wear like no other; I constantly lust over and look to his runway collections for inspiration. And those bags. And shoes. And rose gold watch! Le sigh.
Flats or stilettos?
Kimberly: Neither. I'm most definitely a heels girl, but stilettos aren't sturdy enough! I need something I can walk all day and dance all night.
What do you think is the hardest part about blogging?
Kimberly: Keeping a consistent posting schedule is perhaps the most difficult part of blogging. I'm balancing school and work, and I do face my fair share of writer's block. I hate posting for the sake of posting, so sometimes there'll be a week or so without a post which kills me.
What is the most rewarding part?
Kimberly: At times the blogosphere seems competitive, but I'm more than grateful for each & every reader. I can't help but smile when I get tweets, e-mails, & comments about individual posts or my writing in general. Blogging's helped me explore & refine my writing style & voice. I'm all about improvement!
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Kimberly: Black ballpoint pens (emphasis on the plural!), Post-It Notes, mobile, SoftLips lip balm, and Buxom lip gloss in Sandy. Always.
How would you describe your personal style?
Kimberly: Simple. Classic. Feminine. A little bit sexy - just a bit. (;
