An Interview with Melissa of A Working Mom's Closet

I am a single mom of a four-year-old princess. I work full-time but would love to find a way to sing or blog full-time! I write about my journey to find my style as a professional, as a mommy, and as myself - remixing my pieces as much as possible and spending as little money as possible. Come check out A Working Mom's Closet!

This interview was published on Monday, July 25, 2011.

What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?

Melissa: I work as an office coordinator for an administrative department within a local hospital system. I really enjoy my job (most days!).

Which label dominates your closet?

Melissa: Well, see, I don't really do "labels" all that much. As a single mom, I don't have a ton of money and prefer to get as much as possible for as little as possible. If I find a designer piece, it's probably at a thrift store!

Three things in your closet you cannot live without:

Melissa: My belts (can they count as one thing?), my LBD, and my satin blazer.

What is the worst job you've ever had?

Melissa: Oh dear. I'd have to say working at Panera, because I was around 20 and worked with a bunch of 16 and 17 year old kids. Oy.

Flats or stilettos?

Melissa: Stilettos. I'm not even 5 feet tall, I have to get height somewhere.

How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?

Melissa: I usually shop at Ross, Target, Charlotte Russe. I remix a lot to get more wear out of pieces. Belts, dresses, layers, blazers and cardigans can work wonders for a wardrobe!

A woman's most beautiful feature is her:

Melissa: Understated confidence.

What 5 items do you always have in your purse?

Melissa: My wallet, keys, iPhone, hair brush, and band-aids. I *am* a mom...

Whose style, past or present, influences your style?

Melissa: I can't name just one person. I'm influenced by so many style bloggers, every single blog I read influences me in some way or another.

3 favorite fashion accessories:

Melissa: Belts (have I mentioned those lately?), necklaces, and shoes.
