An Interview with Alissa of The Adored Life
Hi there! My name is Alissa from The Adored Life, and I blog about my life as a student at the University of Kansas. I believe that if you love the shoe you can wear anything from a size 7 to 9, polka dots will always make you happy and when all else fails, buy a cupcake and move on. I will forever struggle with my curly hair and my coordination! As the saying goes, "Be yourself, everyone else is taken." Oh and that you should eat cake for breakfast, that is a must!
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Alissa: I am a full time student at the University of Kansas, studying strategic communications! Plus I work a full-time job between classes.
How would you describe your personal style?
Alissa: I realized the other day when I was asked to classify my class I labeled it as, "I like what I like and know what I don't like!" Actually I tend to be on the classic and preppy side of things but I have fun mixing unexpected styles.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Alissa: We need to make that "guilty pleasure(s)" honestly. I have an undying love of trash T.V. Real Housewives, Teen Mom, anything on Bravo, The Office, etc. Another guilty pleasure of mine is baking. I know it doesn't sound like a guilty pleasure, I spend too much time doing this instead of homework!
Do you have any comfort foods and what memories do you have associated with them?
Alissa: My mothers cinnamon rolls to this day are my favorite food. She made them huge, fluffy and believed that they needed to be doused in icing. To this day none of us have been able to make her recipe like she does! When I go home over holidays I always request them!
What bad habits drive you crazy?
Alissa: I cannot stand it when people are late! I was taught if you aren't 10 minutes early you are late and that is definitely still my motto! When my classmates stroll into class 20 minutes late I want to scream! Then there are people who wear pajamas to class, I know it's school but show some respect
If you could have one wish granted, what would it be?
Alissa: This was really hard for me, but I wish that my brother with Downs Syndrome will be able to have all of his dreams come true. I wish I could make them all come true for him. He is the most wonderful person on this earth.
Your most prized possession?
Alissa: Every year before my Grandmother died she gave me a porcelain doll and I still have those dolls wrapped up safely in my closet at my parents house. At the time I just thought they were pretty and didn't realize how much those would eventually mean to me. I feel connected with her when I touch them.
My favorite moment of the day:
Alissa: My favorite moment of the day is the time every.sing.day. when my boyfriend looks at me and says,"You are so beautiful. You look very pretty today." and he genuinely means it, even if I am wearing sweats and a tank top. I wish I could pause that moment because everything around me falls into place.
List three foods you ate today:
Alissa: Oh my, I should have seen this question before I ate my lunch! For breakfast I had a Rock Chalk coffee (school specialty)and a Dunkin Doughnuts chocolate doughnut. For lunch a tuna salad (to balance out out the donuts of course, that's totally how calories work!)
Your secret obsession is:
Alissa: I'm a pretty open person and my obsessions are kind of know so I really had to think about this! Ok, I am pretty darn obsessed with Kate Middleton. Like I know her birth-date, what she wore, how her fashion has evolved. I am just completely enamored by her. Fine, I admit it! I'm not alone, right?
What is the worst job you've ever had?
Alissa: I've been incredibly lucky that I have had really good jobs! My first job was at a bank when I was 16 and I loved dressing for that!
What is your nerdiest hobby?
Alissa: I used to be a photo major and now when I walk by a location that I think is pretty I instantly think about what shot I am would set up, how I would pose people, what colors would look good. Man, I am a mess.
