An Interview with Ashlyn of Triple Thread
I'm Ashlyn: blogger at Triple Thread, photographer, runner, student, author, and collector of scottie dog paraphernalia. I'm classy and sassy, and my wardrobe is full of contradictions. I am a firm believer that life is always better when wearing sequins and red lipstick.
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Ashlyn: When I'm not blogging, I'm a full time student at a small liberal arts college. My classes and competing in cross country for my school take up most of my time outside of blogging.
How did you come up with your blog name?
Ashlyn: I have a variety of interests outside of fashion: mainly reading, writing, and photography. I wanted a name that incorporated my multifaceted nature as well as something to do with fashion and thus the pun Triple Thread was born.
How would you describe your personal style?
Ashlyn: Always classic but never boring. I love switching up my style on a day to day basis, but I'll always return to nice blouses, black jeans, and oxfords if I'm in a rut.
3 fun facts about you:
Ashlyn: 1. Before I wanted to do something with art or fashion, I was dead set on becoming a geologist. I still love rocks and minerals to this day! 2. I write in a journal every day and once I start a new journal, I have to finish it. 3. I'm not buying any new clothes this school year.
Biggest style splurge and/or deal:
Ashlyn: My biggest style deal was a pair of Bear Traps suede booties that I found at a bargain basement type store for $12. I have no idea what they would have cost in a department store, but I have worn them so much that the sole is torn up.
What types of items do you like to save $ on and what do you splurge on?
Ashlyn: I splurge on items that I know I'll wear all the time- leather shoes, striped sweaters, cashmere cardigans. However, I save by buying nice accessories and "of the moment" items from thrift stores or stores like TJ Maxx. Almost all of my leather belts (a must have in my wardrobe) are secondhand!
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Ashlyn: My journal, an Energel Medium black pen, Revlon lip stain, my iPhone, a pair of sunglasses.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Ashlyn: I'm pretty obsessed with the most recent Muppets movie. People always are a bit taken aback when I ask them if they've seen it because I then proceed to tell them about my love of the song The Rainbow Connection and how wonderful the soundtrack is.
I can't live without...
Ashlyn: A camera! I could do without any other electronic device, but as long as I have a way to take photographs I won't complain.
I always smile at...
Ashlyn: People who look they are having a rough day :).
What's the oldest thing you're wearing today? Is there a story behind it?
Ashlyn: I'm wearing two items that I purchased from a thrift store. The leather belt I'm wearing makes any outfit more put together instantly, but it only cost $1. I have no idea when it's from, but it is probably a favorite item in my wardrobe.
What are some of your passions and hobbies?
Ashlyn: I am extremely passionate about music, movies, writing, reading, and helping people. If I can combine that with my skills in fashion and photography then I'd have the perfect job! More surprisingly, I love American football more than any other sport and I run varsity cross country for my school!
