An Interview with Anisa of Young and Seamless
Anisa Young of Young and Seamless is a nineteen-year-old who is trying to figure out who she is and who she wants to be. A self-proclaimed "fashion hoarder," she traded in her desk for an extra rolling rack to hold the crazy amount of clothing she keeps in the teeny tiny studio that she shares with two others. Obsessed with anything and everything related to food and puppies, Anisa is definitely a quirky gal at heart and her fashion blog reflects just that. She classifies her style as "a mix of what would be hanging in your grandmother's closet with a dash of inappropriateness," she doesn't take herself, nor her fashion choices, too seriously. Oh, and she plans to marry JGL one day, just sayin'.
How did you come up with your blog name?
Anisa: With this being my second blog, I knew what I wanted and what I didn't. Trying to come up with a name that incorporated my name was a lot harder than I expected and for some odd reason, I couldn't stop thinking about "The Young and the Restless" and BAM! my blog was born.
Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
Anisa: Hands down, Alexa Chung and Miroslava Duma. I love their versatility, their effortless style, and their ability to make everything they wear instantly covetable. From overalls to a neon-dotted cardigan, these girls can seriously pull it ALL off.
What is your nerdiest hobby?
Anisa: I really really really like looking at photos of puppies online and "awing" and "cooing" to myself. I do it in class, at home, in the library, at cafes, anywhere and everything. Is that a hobby? ...Well, it's a weird quirk for sure.
3 fun facts about you:
Anisa: I'm beyond obsessed with avocados, I almost decided to study abroad in Sweden because I met three hot Swedes on my last vacation, and I am kind of obsessed with children's fashion/clothing (I swear it's not as creepy as it sounds).
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Anisa: I almost always have my iPhone in hand because I get anxious when I'm not near it (sad, I know) so my purse usually just holds my Burt's Bees, wallet, keys (when I remember them), a whole bunch of receipts, and headphones.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would play the lead role as you?
Anisa: Can I say me? Who knows, maybe I have an inner actress just waiting to bust out.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Anisa: Trashy television and LOTS of it! Pretty Little Liars, My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding, Teen Mom, Jersey Shore, and everything else that you can think of. My motto has always been "the trashier the better!"
On the first day of hot weather, you'll find me:
Anisa: Tanning! Even though I'm naturally pretty tan, I always loose my added summer tan during the Norcal winter. And, I was never good at dressing for the heat so tanning lets me wear close to nothing, which I love. I now realize I sound like a nudist. Oh well.
Three things that are always in my fridge:
Anisa: Ketchup, eggs and bread...if you couldn't tell, I'm definitely a takeout kind of gal.
Are you a shy or outgoing person? How does fashion help you express yourself, and in what way?
Anisa: Shy! I'm super shy in person, even if my online persona doesn't show it. I get nervous around people very easily; I blush easily, I talk too little/much, I laugh too loud. Fashion has definitely given me a way to express myself without the use of words and that's partly why I am so attracted to it!
You think this is fascinating:
Anisa: Men's fashion. I love stalking men's street style. Firstly, they're ridiculously good looking. Secondly, I love how, unlike women's fashion, men are more limited by their choices yet the tiniest details can make a world of difference. It definitely takes a lot more creativity, in my opinion.
This scares you:
Anisa: SNAKES! They give me the heebie jeebies and nightmares all the time! Even snake-printed things used to give me the goosebumps but now I'm a big fan. Maybe I'll even start to like them one day...although that's very very doubtful.
