An Interview with Krystin of Suburban Faux-Pas

A 20-something girl hailing from Toronto, I’m a PR/Communications professional with a penchant for fashion. A city girl at heart living in a suburban setting, I started by blog earlier this year as a means to document my personal inspiration. Whether you’re a city slicker or suburban stylista, I’d like to think there’s something for everyone. Visit me at Suburban Faux-Pas!

This interview was published on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.

What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?

Krystin: I work in the PR and Communications field including branding, events, launches, publicity and more.

How did you come up with your blog name?

Krystin: I was looking for the perfect name to capture the often misunderstood perception of suburban style.

How would you describe your personal style?

Krystin: I'd have to say my style could be defined as classic with a twsit.

Where are you from and what are your top three favorite places to shop in your city?

Krystin: I'm from Toronto, Ontario and my three favorite places to shop are The Hudson's Bay Company, Zara and Joe Fresh!

How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?

Krystin: I like to mix high and low pieces so for trendier items I typically stick to Forever 21 or Zara while I tend to invest in more classic pieces where I can.

Do you keep your older clothes or do you like to keep your closet small and organized?

Krystin: I'm a bit of a hoarder with an ever-expanding closet of clothes.

4 things you can't live without:

Krystin: 1. My iPhone 2. My morning coffee :) 3. Frozen Yogurt 4. An annual trip to NY

What's the oldest thing you're wearing today? Is there a story behind it?

Krystin: A pair of kitten-heel, purple floral pumps I scored in Europe for $14 in 2008. I found them in this fantastic department store and still wear them to this day!

My favorite color combos are...

Krystin: Red/White/Blue and Purple/Grey/Black

What are some of your passions and hobbies?

Krystin: I'd have to say travelling, writing and I have been known to carry a beat on the drums!

You think this is fascinating:

Krystin: I find the evolution of trends in fashion and how they correlate to other industries is such an interesting concept.

"I say I do this, but I rarely do":

Krystin: Don't sweat the small stuff!
