An Interview with Shermineh of PostGradChic

I am a young adult lucky enough to live and breathe fashion. When I am not working my day job, that is in the industry, I am finding new things to blog about on PostGradChic, which includes shopping as research ;) I started my blog after graduating College, and you can clearly see how much has changed for me since then. I love that my readers are able to go on this journey with me, where I go from being a chic post-grad looking for direction, to a chic young professional paving the road for her future.

This interview was published on Friday, July 06, 2012.

What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?

Shermineh: When I'm not blogging I'm usually hanging out with my friends, exploring San Francisco or working. My job job, because blogging is like a job to me, is working as the Associate Marketing and Merchandise Coordinator for an online clothing company. Living and breathing fashion, here!

How would you describe your personal style?

Shermineh: My style is classic with a twist, and some youth. Though I work in an office, I'm still young (23) and working in a creative environment, so I get to be a little adventurous with classic office pieces. It also depends on my mood. My style changes from day to day, but has the same foundation.

What would be the one fashion tip you would give to a friend?

Shermineh: Wear what you feel and look good in, even if it's not "in", because confidence is always fashionable.

How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?

Shermineh: I stay fashionable by knowing where I should be spending my money. I believe in investing in classic, and well made basics, like blazers, or shoes. Those can be with you for years. Fast fashions are where investments should never be made, and don't visit those types of stores frequently.

4 things you can't live without:

Shermineh: This is a tough one. If this applies to clothing only I'd say a great pair of jeans, a classic button up shirt, a trench coat, and comfortable pointy toe pumps. If I could add one more it would be red lipstick. Those key things make an outfit just like that.

How long does it take you to decide on an outfit to post?

Shermineh: Oh this varies. It could be 5 minutes to ... I won't say the longest. It honestly depends on my mood, and how my creative juices are flowing. I've started to keep a list of outfit ideas that pop into my head randomly, for times when I can't think of good outfits.

People would be surprised to know that I...

Shermineh: Have always wanted to be a rockstar. I've been singing since I could talk. I don't think I'm mind blowing, but I can carry a tune. I am shy though; even my closest friends haven't heard me. Also, think of all the fun on-stage outfits I could conjure up!!

What's your latest obsession?

Shermineh: My latest obsession right now is nail art. I barely have time to try it, but I love seeing all the different designs people have been coming up with. I blame Pinterest for this.

Your favorite place you have traveled to? Why?

Shermineh: Honestly, I haven't done much traveling, so instead I'll share my favorite place in San Francisco. The Legion of Honor has the most beautiful and unexpected grounds in the city. The view is also spectacular. It's where I go to escape the city, and sometimes my mind, and I just enjoy nature.

Where do you want to travel next?

Shermineh: 300 characters is not enough for this! The obvious ones in Europe. India, China, Bali, South America, Africa... Let's just say everywhere!

3 fun facts about you:

Shermineh: Well, I shared my singing one already. Three other facts would be that I love to draw, am really good at tennis (or I used to be), and think Oreos and cream cheese is the most incredible food combo known to man. Seriously, try it!
