An Interview with Chandra of A Stylish Little Lady

"a great thing happening now in art is that artists are using the figure, the body, clothing, life..." issey miyake

Hi there...I'm Chandra. A blogger, art enthusiast, foodie, daydreamer of design, and love. Visit my blog at A Stylish Little Lady!

This interview was published on Thursday, February 23, 2012.

What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?

Chandra: I'm always blogging...it has become quite addictive! But when I pry myself away, my day job is working within the field of marketing. And when I'm not involved in those things, I'm usually working on anything creative. I love diy projects, art, cooking, and of course, fashion.

Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?

Chandra: My grandmother..especially on Sundays when going to church. She is always so put together, usually wearing a nice suit and blouse along with a matching clutch bag and accessories. From her I learned to take pride in myself and to be mindful of what I'm wearing...even if I'm just at the store.

What label(s)/store(s) do you favor?

Chandra: I like clothes that are well tailored and classic and will often look to JCrew. I'm not much into labels, though. I shop for what looks best on me and can be interchanged with things I already own. Finding a unique vintage piece is more rewarding than pulling something off the rack at the mall.

How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?

Chandra: I recycle my clothes...creating new looks with things I've owned for years updating with a new accessory, jacket or wearing with a different piece. I like vintage and thrift stores. H&M is a great place to shop for inexpensive trendy pieces and of course...shop the bargain and clearance racks.

What types of items do you like to save $ on and what do you splurge on?

Chandra: Splurges would be good quality shoes and handbags as these will last you for years if taken care of. You can save on your accessories by keeping it simple with inexpensive scarves, necklaces, bangles, etc.

What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?

Chandra: A tailored jacket and pants from Loft, JCrew t's, simple little dresses and a good fitting pair of jeans.

If you could have one wish granted, what would it be?

Chandra: For my wedding day to hurry up and get here!

What's your latest obsession?

Chandra: Anything that makes me armed with pretty....bangles, handmade bracelets, wrap bracelets, and anything I can diy.

My friends would describe me as...

Chandra: creative, outgoing, comfy chic, and a work in progress...

If I could escape to any time and place, I would go to...

Chandra: Back to the 70's...who can resist jump suits, bell bottoms and gold lame!

Last skill I learned:

Chandra: Figuring out the ends and outs to Photoshop.

What's the oldest thing you're wearing today? Is there a story behind it?

Chandra: Simple chain necklace from my grandmother. I've had it since high school.
