An Interview with Megan of Closet Fashionista

Hi, my name is Megan and I am the girl behind Closet Fashionista.  My blog is a personal style blog focusing on dressing with a budget (but with some splurges thrown in now and again.)  I'm in my early 20s and working toward my dream job in fashion. I am super shy but use fashion to express myself, it helps me unleash the crazy that is hiding inside.  From time to time my blog also features my Harry Potter adventures. I run a Harry Potter and Matthew Lewis fan site so I get invited to premiere's and other events and I like to share with my readers.

This interview was published on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.

What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?

Megan: I'm a web designer and programmer at a marketing agency, meaning I make websites you visit work! I also run a Harry Potter fan site AND a Matthew Lewis one in my spare time. So basically I stare at a computer all day long, not very healthy

What would be the one fashion tip you would give to a friend?

Megan: Have fun with your clothes and dress how you feel. Don't worry about what other people will think of your outfit, dress for YOU!

What label(s)/store(s) do you favor?

Megan: I have very expensive taste but if we're just talking about what's in my closet I would have to say Marc by Marc Jacobs (a lot from eBay) and I LOVE to shop at Marhsalls. But I love anything from Target to Chanel (not that I own any Chanel...yet), I like a variety.

What are you wearing right now?

Megan: A Zara skirt, Express button down, Forever 21 cardigan, shoes from Payless, Vanessa Mooney cobra necklace, some rings from my mom, a Marc by Marc Jacobs purse and a Rose Gold Michael Kors watch. *phew*

What inspires you?

Megan: So many things; fashion blogs, street style, movies, my favorite celebrities (Emma Watson, Keira Knightley, etc.). You an find inspiration anywhere so I try to pay attention to everything around me, you never know when inspiration will strike!

Do you have a favorite fashion era? What did you love about it?

Megan: Oh there are so many, but I love watching period movies like Pride and Prejudice. I like the romance of wearing a dress every day (though I could do without corsets), hardly anyone wears dresses, I try to do it as much as I can, but mine aren't quite as long as back then.

How has your blog changed over the months/years?

Megan: At the beginning I never posted photos of myself and now I post every outfit I wore during the week in a roundup and also do individual outfit posts. So I've become more confident in what I post.

In your opinion, every woman should own:

Megan: An amazing blazer with some character. My personal choice would be a velvet blazer with an interesting pattern. They add that extra something to any outfit!

What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?

Megan: Blazers, dresses, sweaters, jeans & shoes (yes, a lot, but I do wear all of those things a LOT). I am a comfort girl but I LOVE high heels, which is a bit of a contradiction when you think about it, but I think think they're comfy.

On my days off, you'll find me...

Megan: On the couch on my computer and watching tv or doing some shopping...

A typical Saturday morning involves:

Megan: I TRY to sleeping in but I usually wake up at 9 & watch The Nanny reruns followed by tons more television/movies. I am a VERY boring person. But sometimes I mix it up with grocery or clothes shopping in the morning. ;)

What's the oldest thing you're wearing today? Is there a story behind it?

Megan: Two rings that I got as hand me downs from my mom when she was younger. One is a spoon ring (made from a spoon handle) and the other is a band with little opal-looking hearts all around it.
