An Interview with Lori of ...Look Closer
I'm Lori, I'm based from Chicago, and I have had my blog for over three years. It started out as an outlet for my opinions on fashion but has grown into a more of a visual blog, which is what I wanted to do when I first started. I get the most inspiration from finding pictures from all over the internet and I wanted to share them with everyone. Blogging has definitely influenced my style and I hope that Look Closer becomes an inspirational source for my viewers!
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Lori: When I'm not blogging i divide my time between being a full-time fashion business student and working in retail. I also volunteer occasionally with fashion related work around school and Chicago. I like to be busy!
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Lori: An oversized blazer, a leather structured handbag and black ankle boots.
3 fun facts about you:
Lori: I'm fluent in Italian, I never learned how to rollerblade, and I was an extra on the "Nightmare on Elm Street" remake (p.s.- this took me a long time to answer!)
What inspires you?
Lori: I get tons of inspiration from films. I watch tons of movies and usually by the end I'll look up screen caps of my favorite scenes and save them. Right now I love Melanie Laurent's character in the film Beginners. She has a very simple parisian style in the movie that I'd like to adapt with my style
Do you have a favorite fashion era? What did you love about it?
Lori: I love the 1950's. I love how everyone put an effort into what they wore. I get a lot of inspiration for my style by menswear during this time. I pay attention to how everything looks perfectly tailored and accessorized. And at the same time, I love the elegant dresses that women wore daily.
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Lori: A small journal, my phone, a YSL makeup compact, chapstick and gum.
Do you keep your older clothes or do you like to keep your closet small and organized?
Lori: It depends, I love collecting vintage clothes that I want to keep but at the same time I hate it when clothes are just sitting in my room. I'm actually in the process of cleaning out my closet now; I want to only to hang clothes that I will actually wear. Either way I have to have it organized!
If you could have one wish granted, what would it be?
Lori: For everyone to get the opportunity to have a long and healthy life. It sounds cliche but watching my dad go through cancer is something that I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Three things that are always in my fridge:
Lori: I generally always need to have fresh fruit, french bread, and some kind of dessert in my house.
What's your latest obsession?
Lori: Pininterest. I could spend hours on that website just saving a bunch of photos on my computer. I just realized that I don't even have an account on there yet!
I feel my best when:
Lori: I'm doing something product or creative. Last semester I had tons of final projects that basically took over my life for 3 weeks. But in the end I was so happy with my work because I knew how hard I worked on it and I could potentially use those projects to build up my portfolio.
Where do you want to travel next?
Lori: I haven't been anywhere in almost 3 years, I feel terrible! I want to go to Paris so badly, it's definitely the top contender at this point.
