An Interview with Jo of Lost in the Haze
Hi, My name is Jo from Lost in the Haze! I love pan collars, big hair, bowler hats, and the reddest lipstick I can find! I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, and blog about beautiful adventures and vintage fashion. I love to show off the picturesque landscape where I live, so my boyfriend (Barnaby!) and I are frequently making videos, and taking film photographs. I would love it if you popped by my fashion blog for a visit - be sure to say hello!
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Jo: I am a third year university student!
Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
Jo: I am incredibly influenced by the 1960s. I love short hemlines, and the biggest hair I can muster! I also look at an awful lot of fashion blogs, and they are definitely a big influence.
What is your fantasy splurge?
Jo: A Vivetta cat coat in blue. I'm wishing!
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Jo: My signature black bowler hat, my oversized doctor's bag by Golden Ponies, and my vintage black buckle shoes. They are all my go-to garments!
What inspires you?
Jo: I am incredibly influenced by vintage fashion, sailor looks, and whimsical prints. I also love looking at blogs - they are incredibly inspiring!
In your opinion, every woman should own:
Jo: A notebook or planner. I use mine constantly! I am full of fleeting thoughts, so now I make sure I write them down before they're gone forever!
What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?
Jo: I always seem to wear my detachable pan collar. Collars are my favourite accessory - they make anything cuter!
Do you keep your older clothes or do you like to keep your closet small and organized?
Jo: Oh gosh, it completely depends. I used to sell my clothes off constantly, but nowadays I am much more careful - as don't want to have any selling regrets! Though, when my closet is looking too full, I generally have a huge eBay listing binge!
Do you have any comfort foods and what memories do you have associated with them?
Jo: Potato chips are my go-to food! Nom nom nom. I don't really have any memories associated with them - I am just greedy!
People would be surprised to know that I...
Jo: listen to mostly rap! My friends always joke about it. My current favourite is Watch the Throne.
Your most prized possession?
Jo: My woollen toy panda. My dad bought it for my mum about 30 years ago, and it has now been passed down to me! I remember it fondly as a child, and am so glad it is finally mine!
A typical Saturday morning involves:
Jo: I always try to sleep in on Saturday mornings, but am usually awake and showered by 8am! Barnaby and I will probably head out to brunch, before visiting my favourite vintage shop. We usually visit somewhere beautiful and snap some photographs on my Holga camera, before heading home to relax.
