An Interview with Anastassia Chepelkevitch
Trying to send out fashion's purpose to the general public (all while
trying to gain sewing skills in my pursuit of the career of a fashion
designer.) Obsessed with everything New York, cultural, art, travel,
and self-expression. Visit her blog at: http://anastassiachepelkevitch.blogspot.com
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Anastassia: In my free time, I tend to read, socialize with my friends and family, draw, and cook/bake. I'm about to enter high school in September, but I also work part-time in a cafe.
Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
Anastassia: Designer wise, probably Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Rei Kawakubo, and Rodarte. These designers use fashion for the right purpose: To express yourself! I also acquire inspiration from random things, and sometimes that evoke emotion... One day it's a bird, the other it's a gruesome situation.
Which label dominates your closet?
Anastassia: One label does not dominate my closet. Usually I just buy what I could see using in my outfits... It's not always about one piece, it's the collaboration of many objects together, as well! If I had the money, though, I would buy clothing from the designers listed above.
What would be the one fashion tip you would give to a friend?
Anastassia: Don't dress to please or to attract people. Dress to draw inspiration from the world and yourself... Represent yourself through your clothing. It's not about satisfying others; it's about making yourself content.
Where are you from and what are your top three favorite places to shop in your city?
Anastassia: I am originally from Moscow, but grew up in Calgary, Alberta. Trend (a consignment store in Kensington,) Winners (TJ Maxx but in Canada,) and The Bay (Macy's, but again, in Canada) are my favorite places to shop, because they have reasonable prices and a wide selection of pieces for everyone!
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Anastassia: My thrifted heart adorned dress, my chewed bubblegum button cardigan, and my mom's colored and vastly diversified silk scarf would all be items I would be very lost without.
Top 3 favorite bands/musical groups:
Anastassia: This is going to be extremely hard, so I'll choose just SOME of my favorite artists that I listen to constantly (I have way more but this is just random picks:) Metric, Jason Mraz, Beyonce.
