An Interview with Abbey of Along Abbey Road

Hello, lovelies! My name is Abbey, editor and creator at Along Abbey Road. My blog is dedicated to all things fashion, beauty, home and life!

This interview was published on Tuesday, September 27, 2011.

What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?

Abbey: I unabashedly admit I am a Pinterest addict, so if I'm not blogging, I'm pinning! There are so many sources of inspiration! As for my life outside the web, my husband and I are expecting our first baby (a boy!) and I am a stay-at-home mom! Technically, that makes me an expert at 20 things, right?

Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?

Abbey: This is always such a tough one for me! Ultimately, I would say Sienna Miller and Rachel Zoe are my fashion gurus. They each bring something different to the table, fashion-wise. Sienna Miller's style is laid-back, minimal, and a bit bohemian, while Rachel Zoe is all glam! The perfect balance.

Great fashion steal:

Abbey: My closet is full of fashion steals! I'd say my best steal of all time is my navy blazer. I bought it on clearance at LOFT for $4.88, but it was originally priced at $90! Unbelievable, right? It is a main staple in my wardrobe, making it my proudest fashion steal yet!

How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?

Abbey: I am a major clearance/sale junky. I hardly ever pay full price for anything, because stores constantly run promotions. Sign up for all of the emails so you know when the promos hit. Also, find out what day your favorite stores process their weekly mark-downs. You get first picks at amazing prices!

What types of items do you like to save $ on and what do you splurge on?

Abbey: Tops, bottoms, and shoes are what I save my cash on. There are always bargains! My splurging weakness: handbags and makeup. There is something so liberating about having the most recent handbag on your arm! As for makeup, I believe you get what you pay for, and the more pricey stuff looks best!

In your opinion, every woman should own:

Abbey: An amazing pair of boots! Boots are appropriate for any age and the various styles accomodate any fashion aesthetic. They are completely versatile in the sense that they go with casual outfits and can be dressed up for a more glam look!

A woman's most beautiful feature is her:

Abbey: Confidence, confidence, confidence. I just can't stress it enough! How a woman carries herself is the majority of her beauty. You are what you think. If you truly feel and believe you are beautiful, that resonates more than any fabulous haircut or amazing outfit ever could.

Favorite beauty product of all time? Why?

Abbey: I would die without my mascara! The best is Opulash by MAC. It gives the effect of long and full eyelashes, without having to put on those itchy false lashes! Mascara is that one product that instantly brightens your eyes, especially if you are in a hurry and don't have time for other makeup!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Abbey: Butterfinger candy bars! Or anything chocolate for that matter! I keep a stash of the bite-size Butterfingers and indulge on at least one a day. I know, I'm terrible! One day it's really going to catch up!

What bad habits drive you crazy?

Abbey: As a blogger, I cringe everytime I see blatant grammar errors. I'm talking about the incorrect use of "our" versus "are" and things of that nature. It just boggles my mind that people don't care enough to use proper grammar! I definitely think it's a habit of laziness people could break.

If you had a time machine that could take you back in time, what year would you go to and why?

Abbey: I think about this all the time, and my answer is ever-changing. Currently, I am wanting to travel back to the year 1964. With all of the heated political issues and amazing fashion break-throughs, I would be living in awe! How awesome would it be to see Jackie O on the cover of every magazine?

What's your favorite animal?

Abbey: Chihuahuas. I suppose I am a bit biased, considering I have two! Benny and Max are the world's cutest chihuahuas!
