An Interview with Heather of Heather In A Candy Shop

My blog is Heather in a Candy Shop and I write about everything in life that gets me excited: style, travel, and a great meal. My style matches my personality: I love to be fun, adventurous and I always aim to make a statement. I'm drawn to prints and color, but neutrals are growing on me in my old age. I especially have a weakness for jewelry, which I inherited from my mother, and I've even been designing and selling my own on and off for years. I have fun bringing a more light-hearted, sarcastic voice to the blog world and hopefully will inspire other women to try something new and get out of their comfort zone whether it be trying a funky pair of pants or choosing somewhere new in the world to explore.

This interview was published on Friday, October 07, 2011.

What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?

Heather: I manage and sell advertising to major retail clients at one of the best online companies in the world :)

Whose style, past or present, influences your style?

Heather: My mom! She always bought clothes in sets with matching pants and jackets so she looked very chic. She was also a jewelry fanatic so she was perfectly accessorized. I wear a lot of her jewelry now.

Three things in your closet you cannot live without:

Heather: my new metallic silver Alexander Wang tassel pumps, my denim corset, and these bright red vintage Versace pants with cool see through darts at the hips...will be debuting those on the blog soon :)

3 fun facts about you:

Heather: my favorite food since childhood is olives, i can do a flip on a trampoline and land on my feet even if my back really hurts the next day now, I stepped on a piece of a dead jelly fish on the beach once like an idiot and it stung the bottom of my foot. I had to be carried home.

What is the worst job you've ever had?

Heather: oh where to begin, I was a waitress at Johnny Rockets. Complete with wedge cap and bow tie and they even made me sing when this one Frank Sinatra song would come on. My friends would come with tons of nickles for the jukebox when I was working. I was the youngest waitress ever hired though at 15yo!

What are you currently grooving to?

Heather: I'm always grooving to Britney

What is your favorite dessert?

Heather: again, where to begin...chocolate caramel tarts with sea salt are alright, i make brown butter sea salt rice krispies that are amazing, red velvet cupcakes, creme brulee, chocolate lava cake. I got in the habit of eating dessert after lunch and dinner and am currently trying to correct this.

Do you have a favorite fashion era? What did you love about it?

Heather: I love the 1920's. Women really seemed to dress up and all of the beaded and feather accents were so beautiful. Not to mention long strands of pearls. I would love to live in a time of excessive cocktail drinking, dancing, and dressing up a la Great Gatsby.

In your opinion, every woman should own:

Heather: a few pieces of unique statement jewelry.

What 5 items do you always have in your purse?

Heather: wallet, lip gloss, phone, sunglasses, and nicotine gum (i like it)

Do you keep your older clothes or do you like to keep your closet small and organized?

Heather: I mostly keep them, but I will donate or sell some as well. I try to buy only clothes I LOVE regardless of trends so it makes it a challenge to toss anything. My clothes and jewelry will be my legacy.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Heather: staying home by myself on Friday nights and just laying in bed and watching tv, more often than not, lifetime original movies...i love lifetime and I don't care who knows it!!...dessert and britney too but we addressed those already.
