An Interview with Jenny of Jenny's Open Closet
Jenny is a small town girl with big city dreams who has been blogging since 2009. Fashion is her biggest passion and blogging has been a creative way for her to connect to the industry and other people who share her interests. After college she would like to work as a journalist for a fashion magazine and hopes to write for Vogue someday. Come say hi at Jenny's Open Closet!
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Jenny: Well, this summer I've had a part time job at PacSun but in the fall I will be studying journalism at Emerson College in Boston.
How would you describe your personal style?
Jenny: I'm a total girly-girl with a bit of edge! I'm inspired by anything bohemian, ankle boots are my weakness, my favorite jacket is leather, and I love to pile on bold rings and bangles. I like to both vintage and trendy pieces. I would say my wardrobe is Audrey Hepburn meets Sienna Miller.
What is your nerdiest hobby?
Jenny: I'm a drama geek! I performed in every high school play, I collect Shakespeare plays, and one of my biggest dreams is to see The Lion King on Broadway.
3 fun facts about you:
Jenny: -I love trying new foods; Greek and Indian are two of my favorite cuisines. -My favorite sport to watch is football (I'm a huge Patriots fan). -One way I make my clothing unique is by reinventing old clothes or sewing new ones. It's a big creative outlet for me!
What are you currently grooving to?
Jenny: The Black Keys and Ellie Goulding
Biggest style splurge and/or deal:
Jenny: My favorite place to find designer deals is giltgroupe.com where I bought my Badgley Mischka prom dress for under $300 and a pair of Kelsi Dagger gladiator sandals for $25.
In your opinion, every woman should own:
Jenny: A great jewelry collection! A lot of women tend to overlook accessories and jewelry is such a fun way to express one's self! Jewelry is a reflection of a woman's personality so no one collection is the same. Just an edgy ring or unique necklace can add an entirely different element to an outfit.
A woman's most beautiful feature is her:
Jenny: Confidence. Great looks and a killer outfit aren't complete without a radiant smile and positive outlook.
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Jenny: My iPod, a pink lipgloss or lipstick, sunglasses that complement my outfit of the moment, a black rhinestone compact mirror, and my cell phone.
If you had a time machine that could take you back in time, what year would you go to and why?
Jenny: That's a tough question because there's something I love about every decade of the 20th century, but I would have to choose a year in the early 1960s because there was so much going on in fashion then. Women began really finding the importance of defining their own personal style.
On the first day of hot weather, you'll find me:
Jenny: Hitting the beach with friends wearing my newest bathing suit that I'd been dying to wear all winter.
Three things that are always in my fridge:
Jenny: Fruit, whole grain bread, and milk.
