An Interview with Eline of A Fluffy Blog

My name is Eline and I'm one of the many twenty-something personal fashion/style bloggers. A Fluffy Blog is my internet home where I post my personal ruminations on style, the often dubious fashion world and question my abundant love of clothes. Clothes obviously mean a lot to me because it's been my gateway to a feeling of personal freedom and has been a means against battling my own insecurities, both physically and mentally. But their also a source of everyday fun and excitement!

This interview was published on Wednesday, August 17, 2011.

How would you describe your personal style?

Eline: Eclectic, and overtly pink.

Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?

Eline: The realisation that I was free to wear anything I liked, and that other people's opinion shouldn't influence my feeling of self-worth. Also the colours, senses and smells of every day life.

What is your nerdiest hobby?

Eline: I suppose that's art history and reading, but what's nerdy anyway?

Where are you from and what are your top three favorite places to shop in your city?

Eline: I am from Ghent, Belgium and my favourite places are Think Twice, Oxfam and Kringloop, all second hand clothing stores!

3 fun facts about you:

Eline: #1 As a child I wanted everything to be pink, not much has changed since then. #2 I only own two pair of trousers, which I never ever wear. #3 I often unconsciously touch almost everything I see. I love feeling different textures, my favourite thing to touch is fluff, of course!

In your opinion, every woman should own:

Eline: A sense that her body is her own, not meant for the public's eye.

A woman's most beautiful feature is her:

Eline: Like any human being it is their own individuality; the way they look at life, the way they feel and precept things and the way their brain processes outer stimulants.

4 favorite fashion accessories:

Eline: Confidence, creativity, pleasure and something pink and fluffy.

What 5 items do you always have in your purse?

Eline: It don't always carry five items, actually. A summary of them raging from how often I carry them along with me, with the bottom item being the least frequently used: it's a very boring list; my keys, my wallet, my phone, my Kindle or a book and my iPod.

What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?

Eline: A green dirndl with little pink and white flowers on it and gorgeous magenta lining, a 60s orange and white striped mod dress, a midnight blue velvet 50s dress, my cherry cardigan and fluffy things.

4 things you can't live without:

Eline: Books, music, art and the freedom to obtain knowledge of those subjects.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Eline: No pleasure should be something to feel guilty about!

What words do you live by?

Eline: The lyrics of Prince's Uptown, most especially: "Now where I come from we don't let society tell us how it's supposed to be. Our clothes, our hair. We don't care. It's all about being there!" I love early Prince ideology sung in falsetto so much, haha!
