An Interview with Amanda of A.Co Est. 1984
Proving looking like a million bucks doesn't have to cost that, fashion blogger Amanda from Canada shows us how to do just that. With everything from outfits, to recipes, to 'Looks for Less', to easy and inexpensive DIY's. Come on over and get a taste. Check out A.Co Est. 1984!
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Amanda: I work as an Executive Assistant. When I'm not blogging I'm hanging with friends & family, sewing, creating jewelery for my line (A.Co Designs) or working out. I also love to eat so I attempt to be creative in the kitchen.
Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
Amanda: Other women.
What is your nerdiest hobby?
Amanda: Crafting (I love being creative).
What is your fantasy splurge?
Amanda: Many, many pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes.
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Amanda: Banana Republic LBD, Dynamite white stiff-cotton blazer & a pencil skirt.
3 fun facts about you:
Amanda: I love playing practical jokes on people and scaring them (but hate being scared). I know how to ride a motorcycle. I always carry a pashmina.
How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?
Amanda: Shop often and scout out the sales. Wait for things to be reduced before purchasing and walk away if you don't 'love love love' it. I love having many clothes to choose from but can't afford to do that if everything is brand name. Winners, Dynamite, H&M, F21 & Sirens are great for this.
What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?
Amanda: Pencil skirts. Faux leather & denim jackets. Pashminas. Skinny jeans. Wedges. Flowy tops. Wide belts.
If you had a time machine that could take you back in time, what year would you go to and why?
Amanda: I wouldn't. The past is the past for a reason and it shouldn't be messed with. Everything I've experienced, done and gone through has made me the person I am today and without that, I would be nothing.
What words do you live by?
Amanda: Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful, it's threatening b/c it means things may get worse. To the hopeful, it's encouraging b/c things may get better. To the confident, it's inspiring b/c the challenge exists to make things better.
On the first day of hot weather, you'll find me:
Amanda: Wearing my favourite sandals and outside with friends (or in an air-conditioned place if it's too hot ;)
Three things that are always in my fridge:
Amanda: Milk. Cheese. Veggies.
