An Interview with Kristin of Doll Parade
Hello! My name is Kristin and I run a personal style blog called Doll Parade. I was happy to answer a few questions regarding personal style staples, and hope you can draw some inspiration! Come visit me at my blog if you fancy, and thank you to Smashion for the lovely interview opportunity!
How did you come up with your blog name?
Kristin: I honestly harassed my friends for a few MONTHS in regards to a blog name, as I was teetering over it a little obsessively. I'm majorly indecisive, so kept writing down words I loved on a piece of looseleaf until something made sense. Doll Parade popped! And my friends happily agreed ;)
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Kristin: Oversized rhinestone studs by J. Crew, military trench, and a gazillion stripes.
3 fun facts about you:
Kristin: I have a kitty named "Pip" & she has freckles. I was a live-in nanny in Ireland once. I gave the band "Hanson" a handmade clock in the 90's.
Biggest style splurge and/or deal:
Kristin: Lately? Perhaps my newest Michael Kors pumps. They were at a sample sale for less than half price. Snatch!
In your opinion, every woman should own:
Kristin: A pair of well fitting, good quality black skinny pants, a go to dress that can be dressed up or down, and perhaps a good blazer!
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Kristin: My Blackberry, multiple lipsticks/balms, no-spill travel mug for caffeine, blush, and my wallet (plain ol' thing from some cheapo store).
What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?
Kristin: Any gold embellishments - to me, gold is always the perfect accessory, my J. Crew oversized rhinestone stud earrings - they are just never overdone for me, and probably a few pairs of rotating skinny black pants, for everyday.
Favorite beauty product of all time? Why?
Kristin: Liquid liner. I can't live without it, and I've been wearing my eyes the exact same way for almost 4 years now. I use either Revlon Colorstay or Maybelline Line Stiletto & always in black!
On the first day of hot weather, you'll find me:
Kristin: Oh - probably at my desk! I'm a bit of a workaholic to say the least, so I'm probably going to be at work on that day. If not... perhaps an open field?
My beat-the-heat beauty secret is...
Kristin: Oh goodness. A hair product that helps me with my halo of frizz? I like to use Rusk products for this. And, of course, 50 SPF sun screen. Maybe not 'beat the heat', but this girl has to 'beat the sunburn'. I'm as white as a ghost!
When I want to look cute, I put on...
Kristin: Something that feels effortless, but has structure. An oversized blouse with a structure bottom, or a floaty dress with a sharp blazer. I love the contrast, and different shapes and textures make me feel most comfortable since I'm a petite lady.
