An Interview with Paige of Barefoot & Vintage

Hi, hello! I'm Paige of Barefoot & Vintage. I started blogging in 2009 as a way to promote my vintage clothing shop on Etsy. Naturally, I began mixing vintage pieces and newer items in my own wardrobe. Not only was it fun to document the different looks via my blog, but it helped me save tons of money on clothing and allowed for a wider variety of outfits! When I'm not sharing my life via the inter webs, I can be found spending time with my fiance and 10 year old son. I enjoy flea markets, thrifting, reading, hiking, running, and complaining about people who don't put their cart away at the supermarket. Oh! and I'm expecting a baby girl at the end of August! Come say hello and follow along if you wish!

This interview was published on Friday, June 24, 2011.

How would you describe your personal style?

Paige: I'd say classic with a touch of off beat/eclectic. I'm really all over the place with my style...I guess it depends on my mood!

What would be the one fashion tip you would give to a friend?

Paige: Don't be afraid to try bold colors and mix patterns! Getting out of your comfort zone can open up a whole new world in your closet.

Three things in your closet you cannot live without:

Paige: A great pair of jeans, a soft white tee, and my over-sized chunky cardigan - these items mix and match with just about everything else!

3 fun facts about you:

Paige: I love Zombie movies, I often eat cereal for dinner, and I grew up in the Midwest (I've lived in California since 1999.)

How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?

Paige: I love finding goodies at thrift stores/flea markets, but I also frequent Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. The key to shopping at those stores is to check the sale/clearance racks, they usually offer pretty good prices. If you're really trying to save, raid a friend's closet or organize a swap!

What types of items do you like to save $ on and what do you splurge on?

Paige: I typically splurge on trousers and jeans, as there is nothing more flattering on a woman than a great pair of well-fitting pants. I try to save on handbags and shoes. I could never bring myself to spend over $100 on a purse. I'd rather snatch up 5 lovely vintage dresses at the flea market!

What 5 items do you always have in your purse?

Paige: My iPhone, Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm, sunglasses, hair ties, and Crazylibellule and the Poppies Solid Perfume in Musc & Patchouli

What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?

Paige: Skinny jeans, maxi skirts and dresses, white or grey t-shirts, a chunky knit cardigan, and a great fitting blazer.

Do you keep your older clothes or do you like to keep your closet small and organized?

Paige: I used to keep all of my clothes. Up until recently, I still had a few items that I wore in high school! But when you're thrifting as much as I do and consistently adding new/used things to your wardrobe, you almost have to get rid of items on a regular basis. It feels good to purge!

Favorite beauty product of all time? Why?

Paige: Philosophy's On a Clear Day Oil-Free Moisturizer. I tend to have oily skin with the occasional break out; however, since using this product, my skin has been clearer, softer, and so pretty! It never feels oily - even in hot/humid weather. I highly recommend this product.

Your most worn piece of jewelry:

Paige: Most definitely my engagement ring.

What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?

Paige: Spend a day at the beach, BBQ with friends/family, attend outdoor events like music festivals or simply lounging on the patio with a good book!
