An Interview with Clara of Sunflares Plethora
A lover of nature of photography who fall into fashion-discourse and musings. Living in the heart of Indonesia, she spends most of her time to hunt the sun-flares reflection with her lens and visiting local thrift stores. Meet Clara, another vintage blogger from the never ending summerland. Visit her at Sunflares Plethora!
How did you come up with your blog name?
Clara: I used to love photigraphy first before fashion. Most of my works are capturing pretty nature objects like leaves, clouds, and especially sun - through the sun flares that reflected on my lens. I love the flares so much that I know I have to make it as part of my blog title!
What is your nerdiest hobby?
Clara: I read dictionary. Everywhere I go, during class break or toilet time, I love reading dictionary and finding new meanings each time! Some people think I'm weird but I have been doing it since I was 9 years old, and enjoy it a lot.
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Clara: Vintage blouses, flat shoes and boater hat. They're like my signature style essential that I can't imagine not to find them in my closet everytime.
3 fun facts about you:
Clara: 1. I smell my food to 'predict' its taste. 2. I talk with my dogs as much as I talk with my sister in a day. 3. My boyfriend is such a modern-styled male so everytime we go together it's like people seeing a teenager walking with an old lady.
What is your favorite city to shop in?
Clara: Probably Singapore for their cheap markets and neat shopping places.
Biggest style splurge and/or deal:
Clara: To spend over $150 on vintage ferragamo shoes last year. That was my biggest vintage-good purchase so far.
How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?
Clara: There are several ways : First, don't buy brand, buy the uniqueness. I shop clothes from many places, they never go wrong. I spend a lot on shoes and bags only because they not that easily find in great quality Two, do thrift-shopping. Three, mix & match your clothes to refresh old look.
In your opinion, every woman should own:
Clara: A feeling of trust towards their own beauty and fashion preferences.
One trend you would like to never see again is:
Clara: Not any trends. I enjoy many kind of trends although not every of them will preferable for me (like, I never could see the beauty of gladiator shoes or sandals but I enjoy people looking good at them... Something like that).
Favorite beauty product of all time? Why?
Clara: Liquid eyeliner. It's a genius innovation people ever made and even I'm not a big fans of make-up but I can be used with eyeliner all the time (especially to get that Hepburn eyes' look that I love)!
Do you have any comfort foods and what memories do you have associated with them?
Clara: I do. I love milk tea. It always remind me of Dad because he was the one who introduced me with this drink, and we love spending time together having our favorite reads in hand and a cup of milk tea on the table. It's a taste of warmth and protection for me.
Your most worn lip gloss/ lipstick:
Clara: Pink Rouge Unlimited from Shu Uemura and Classic Almost Nude Super Lustrous from Revlon.
Your most worn piece of jewelry:
Clara: My vintage rings collection.
