An Interview with Ena of Kansairetro
Hello! I'm Ena from kansairetro. I live in Kobe, Japan with my husband. I love to travel, plan outfits, take photos, and appreciate little things. My blog is a reflection of my life. I started my blog last year mostly out of boredom, but it has now become a big hobby for me.
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Ena: I am a freelance translator who works from home. When I'm not working or blogging, I read other people's blogs, watch movies, read books, or just do everyday chores.
Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
Ena: Anna Karina, Catherine Deneuve, and Audrey Hepburn have always been my style icons. But now I think I'm more influenced by bloggers around the world.
Where are you from and what are your top three favorite places to shop in your city?
Ena: I'm from Japan, and currently live in Kobe. My top three favorite local shops are a shoes shop called Odette et Odile, a clothes shop called Anatelier, and a vintage/antique shop full of cute old things.
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Ena: A simple dress, colored tights or socks, and a hat.
What is your favorite dessert?
Ena: Scones. I like both the American-style ones with chunky chocolates and the traditional British ones served with clotted cream.
Biggest style splurge and/or deal:
Ena: I think the biggest splurge was a pale pink tote bag from FURLA. I haven't been using it much after I stopped working at an office, though.
How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?
Ena: I think I'm still learning at it! I often shop at local shops for new clothes and at online auctions for vintage clothes and accessories.
In your opinion, every woman should own:
Ena: A pair of black comfy flats. Mine is pretty worn out and I probably need a new one.
One trend you would like to never see again is:
Ena: That's a difficult question, because I don't really care about what other people wear.
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Ena: My iPhone with a floral Cath Kidston cover, a black Chanel wallet, a nude pink gloss, a bottle of green tea or water, and a book or my iPad to pass time.
What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?
Ena: A vintage gold necklace with four different colors of stones. It goes with everything, yet I think is interesting.
On the first day of hot weather, you'll find me:
Ena: Watching "Bonjour Tristesse" as I drink my iced tea.
Three things that are always in my fridge:
Ena: A blueberry jam for bread, milk for café au lait, and some kind of cheese.
