An Interview with Vanessa of My Heart Blogged
Hi I'm Vanessa from My Heart Blogged. I am a girl from Cleveland, Ohio trying to stay stylish on a shoe string budget. I love thrift shopping, and finding great deals.
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Vanessa: I work a blue collar job 5-6 days a week. I'm also enrolled in College, and working towards a bachelor's in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing.
How would you describe your personal style?
Vanessa: A lot of what I wear is casual, and I try to keep it chic. I live in flats, and jeans. I love playing with colors, and I like trying new things. Fashion is meant to be fun, and I dress for me.
What would be the one fashion tip you would give to a friend?
Vanessa: Know what you have in your closet, and use that first. It will save you a ton of money inn the long run.
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Vanessa: My cardigans, they are the perfect way to dress up an outfit. Ballet flats, because they are so comfortable. My wide leg trouser Express jeans. The cut of their trouser jeans is so flattering.
3 fun facts about you:
Vanessa: I am a great thrift shopper, and I can spot gems pretty easily. I find blogging to be really relaxing. When I was younger I wore a pair of three inch black strappy chunky heels everywhere, even while riding my bicycle.
What are you currently grooving to?
Vanessa: My favorite songs lately are Price Tag (Jessie J), Hammers and Strins (Jack's Mannequin), and The Saltwater Room (Owl City). I like a little bit of everything.
Biggest style splurge and/or deal:
Vanessa: One of my favorite finds was a blazer I bought 6 or 7 years ago. It's not the best deal I've ever found but it was $10, and I have worn it 100's of times.
How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?
Vanessa: I shop at Thrift Stores, and always hit the sale racks first. I get a lot more for my money, and a wardrobe I love by thrifting. My parents taught me to be frugal, and kind of take it to the extreme.
What types of items do you like to save $ on and what do you splurge on?
Vanessa: I only splurge on a few things. Number one thing is shoes. I found time and time again shoes are not something to buy cheap. If I'm trying a new trend I always save on the item because it will be out of style too soon.
In your opinion, every woman should own:
Vanessa: A little black dress that fits great. You can do just about anything with it, and black looks great on everyone.
What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?
Vanessa: My red cardigan, yellow ballet flats, my wide leg trouser jeans, and as of lately I have been wearing a lot of blue tops.
On the first day of hot weather, you'll find me:
Vanessa: On the beach at Lake Erie enjoying the waves crashing on to shore. Or sitting inside thanking the heavens for air conditioning.
