An Interview with Lauren of Champagne and Marshmallows
Lauren is a Philadelphia-based fashion blogger and the creator of the blog Champagne and Marshmallows, where she posts photos of her daily outfits and other fashion-related photos. Champagne and Marshmallows was created as a personal style diary and aims to inspire others to develop their own unique sense of style.
How did you come up with your blog name?
Lauren: I wanted something unique that no one else would have, and I Googled a few other names before landing on Champagne and Marshmallows, one of my favorite snacks!
How would you describe your personal style?
Lauren: Usually always casual, a mix of boho, gypsy, and grunge. I love layered looks and I like wearing lots of jewelry. I'm definitely not a minimalist!
What is your nerdiest hobby?
Lauren: I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, so yes, I'm a math nerd :)
What is your fantasy splurge?
Lauren: Every piece from the Roberto Cavalli Spring 2011 collection. Hey, it's a fantasy, right?
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Lauren: Button-up shirts, skinny jeans, and lace-up boots. Most of my everyday outfits incorporate those three things.
What is the worst job you've ever had?
Lauren: Hostess at Ruby Tuesday. I worked there for an entire week before quitting!
What inspires you?
Lauren: My style inspiration usually comes from runway photos, fashion blogs and website, magazines, and movies.
Great fashion steal:
Lauren: I work in the clothing department at a thrift store, and it's amazing what people donate! Probably my greatest find so far is a black, fur-lined Prada coat.
How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?
Lauren: I get most of my clothes from vintage stores. I also shop at H&M and Forever 21 for the basics and for accessories.
In your opinion, every woman should own:
Lauren: Every woman should own something that no one else has, whether it's a piece of vintage jewelry or a unique printed shirt. It makes you feel special or important knowing that you've got a one-of-a-kind item.
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Lauren: Cell phone, chapstick, iPod, my wallet, and an umbrella (just in case!).
What's your most important makeup tip?
Lauren: My makeup is pretty simple. A good foundation is a must, then I add eyeliner and lipgloss for everyday. I don't like to overdo it, partially because I like to be lazy in the morning :)
Favorite beauty product of all time? Why?
Lauren: L'Oreal spray gel. I've tried a few other brands, but this one is just the right consistency: not too thick like regular gel, so it doesn't weigh down my hair, but thick enough that it still tames frizz and gives me that wavy, beachy look.
