An Interview with Ashley of Hudson's Happenings
Hi Smashionistas! I’m Ashley from Hudson's Happenings. I'm hopelessly devoted to fashion and photography, seeking inspiration in the unexpected, and unearthing the creativity in the everyday. I would love for you to join me in my happy little corner of the internet, where I share my journey as as a girl who's trying to remain stylish while savoring every little moment in this wonderful life.
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Ashley: I am a happy housewife and stay-at-home mama to one beautiful baby boy. My job is to take care of my precious little family, and I love it so much. When I'm not blogging I love going on little adventures with my family, photographing everything, and repurposing vintage items.
Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
Ashley: I am eternally drawn to classic beauty and glamour, but at the same time I find that I am influenced by anyone with the ability to take risks. I admire people who possess a unique sense of style, whether they be celebrities or strangers I pass on the street.
What is your fantasy splurge?
Ashley: If I could have anything my little heart desired for Spring 2011, it would definitely be the White Giant City Balenciaga Handbag with rose gold hardware. But with a price tag of $1,795.00, this gorgeous Italian-made bag will unfortunately remain a "fantasy".
What are you currently grooving to?
Ashley: Right now I'm loving the Civil Wars, Mumford & Sons, and Adele. My stand-by favorites? Anything by Elvis Presley, the (500) Days of Summer Soundtrack, and Sam's Town by The Killers.
What inspires you?
Ashley: So many things...memories, photography, art, magazines, blogs, my family, nature, music, films. I thrive on seeking inspiration in the unexpected.
What is your favorite dessert?
Ashley: There's nothing I love better than a cold slice of cherry pie.
Great fashion steal:
Ashley: My favorite shoes, a pair of Roberto del Carlo suede peep toe wedge platforms that I scored at Barney's on my last trip to New York. They were marked down an amazing 75% off their $500 retail price. I wear them with everything!
How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?
Ashley: I like to purchase clothing that I know I can style into multiple outfits. I try to fight off impulse buys, by only buying things that I can't live without. And by shopping online, I am usually able to rack up on some amazing deals. I love shopping at Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and F21.
What types of items do you like to save $ on and what do you splurge on?
Ashley: I don't like to spend a lot of money on fads that are likely to be short-lived, so I look for my trendy items at places like F21 or Charlotte Russe. When buying classic pieces that will be in rotation in my closet for awhile, I will spend a more substantial amount.
One trend you would like to never see again is:
Ashley: Even though I own 2 pairs, and wore them proudly in the past...I am not a huge fan of Uggs.
How long does it take you to decide on an outfit to post?
Ashley: Not very long. I usually have an idea of what I want to wear before I even get to my closet.
Favorite beauty product of all time?
Ashley: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
