An Interview with Brittany of Cleverly Titled Style Blog
I'm Brittany D'Lynne of Cleverly Titled Style. I try to put the fun back into Monday morning by showing that you can dress professionally in an office environment and still be stylish, ladylike, and perhaps even . Technically I probably started this blog in 9th grade when I kept a diary of every outfit I wore that year. I wasn't even fashion-conscious back then...I just had a bad memory and refused to wear the same outfit twice. I guess I'm still doing that these days, but my diary doesn't have a key, and I won't yell at you if I see you looking at it.
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Brittany: I live in West Texas, so I do what comes naturally. I work in Oil & Gas!
How would you describe your personal style?
Brittany: I try to make budget pieces work for a professional, but creative wardrobe. I like lots of color, love pencil skirts, and try to keep my husband interested by occasionally dressing like a lady.
What is your fantasy splurge?
Brittany: I always said I'd know I "made it" when I bought a pair of Prada heels. This girl's still at Payless, so what does that tell you? :P
What are you currently grooving to?
Brittany: Apparently I was the last discover Cage the Elephant. It's the only thing I'm playing right now. Well, that and whatever songs I haven't cleared off my IPod from two years ago...
Biggest style splurge and/or deal:
Brittany: Once at a resale store, I saw this amazing pair a Ferragamos for $20, in perfect condition. Unfortunately, they were a size 6. I wear a 10. Otherwise, my thrift stores here carry fabulous pieces by Old Navy, but I make it work. I don't SPLURGE too often, because that means I have to buy less...
How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?
Brittany: I have the worst advice ever - I have a lot of clothes. I spend some time at the thrift store, but mostly I shop at the same retail stores and just remix their clothes over and over and over.
What types of items do you like to save $ on and what do you splurge on?
Brittany: I'm a sucker for coats, so I'll spend a lot of those. Mostly everything I buy is a budget item though.
In your opinion, every woman should own:
Brittany: Pretty underwear. But don't blog them. And a white Hanes men's t-shirt.
One trend you would like to never see again is:
Brittany: Never say never! I have this image in my head of my 12 year old self "rocking" a denim vest and cringe, but I've been seeing that again lately and it just looks amazing!
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Brittany: Lip Gloss, Chapstick, my camera, my wallet (but never cash, ugh), and usually three various receipts (from the grocery store...)
