An Interview with Budget Chic

Budget Chic Blog really started out as a need for me to visually display and catalog the outfits I liked in order to save time. I thought perhaps other women would be able to relate to my style as well. As an outfit or personal style blogger I showcase outfits that a woman on a super-tight budget would be able to afford and still look well put together. I think there has to be place where women who are on a strict budget (whether they are a student, stay-at-home mom or a working women with limited funds) can get affordable outfit ideas for putting together a look for work, special events, a casual night out with friends, family function or whatever. In other words, no need to break the bank, there are tons of affordable and very stylish options out there from major retailers that just about everybody in the U.S. has access to.

This interview was published on Monday, April 18, 2011.

What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?

Joann: I work as a Contract Administrator for a Government Municipality

What would be the one fashion tip you would give to a friend?

Joann: Buy what makes you feel good and puts a smile on your face.

Great fashion steal:

Joann: A pair of $300 shoes I scored for $28 bucks!

How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?

Joann: I shop during seasonal clearance, I don't rule out any stores (or let's just say I leave no stone unturned). I use coupons and promotional codes and I resell items I no longer want and recycle the money into newer purchases.

What types of items do you like to save $ on and what do you splurge on?

Joann: I splurge on shoes, I have a very danger obsession with shoes. I spend the least amount or try to save the most money on accessories and handbags. Bags and accessories are the most frivolous things to me, I scale back on those purchases.

In your opinion, every woman should own:

Joann: A classic wrap dress and red pumps

One trend you would like to never see again is:

Joann: Harem Pants or what I call those 'MC Hammer pants'

What are key pieces from your wardrobe that you find yourself wearing over and over?

Joann: Red pumps, trench coats, classic fitted blazers, pencil skirts

Do you keep your older clothes or do you like to keep your closet small and organized?

Joann: I like options, lots and lots of options; so my closet is jammed packed with tons of possibilities and that's the way I like it! *grin*

4 things you can't live without:

Joann: I could live without all of it, but I'd rather not.
