I'm not sure and I don't think "chinky" is the correct terminology to use to describe that particular ethnicity. it's a little offensive. |

Oh, sorry if chinky is an offensive word. My cousin is nicknamed Chinky and none of us ever think it’s offensive. (As you can notice from my profile picture, I’m actually part Asian.) We do have Chinese blood but the word chinky never seemed offensive to us. Also, my friend's username is chinkysmile on yahoo and I asked her, is it racist? And she said no, that "chink" and "chinky" are different... weird, esp coz we're part chinese and we're not offended! but of course, sorry to those who got offended. :)

I'm also asian and i'm not offended either! maybe it depends what part of the world you live in. we actually feel like saying "yatta!" when someone says we're chinky-eyed, coz it means we're kawai hehe (cute). but just for the record, we use "chinky-eyed" as a compliment where i come from. |

Still… if it’s offensive to someone else, maybe we should stop using it for now. But going back to the makeup, I don’t know much about putting on makeup. I don’t even know how to do smoky eyes on myself. Sigh… |

Well I'm not exactly Asian and I'm not entirely sure how to make your eyes look that way, but I can help with some parts of eye makeup application! It's always best to start with a nice eye liner. You'll want to put some at the base of your eyelid where your lids touch. It sounds like it would feel weird putting eyeliner there but it looks great and adds a lot of pop to your eyes. To make your eyes look a bit more almond shaped you should apply some eye liner to the top lid where the eyelashes begin. Start in the middle of your eye with a thin line that gets slightly larger as you move towards the outer edge of your eye. Once you get to the edge do a very slight swoop. This will make your eye look like it's tilted (or slanted however you want to put it) As for eyeshadow you can take whatever color you want to use. If your profile picture is your eye color I would go with purple, deep blue, forest green, or dark gray. Closing one eye lid make a dark line at the base of your top lid going above the eye liner with you sweep the eyeshadow brush over the lid. Then just flutter the brush along the lid going a LITTLE near your brow (going too close can look cheesy). I hope this was helpful! |

Oh wow taylorvaughn was really helpful! You must be really good with makeup! And I think what you shared would really work, especially the bit where you make a swoop as you approach the lateral aspects of the eyes. ^_^ |

Ladybutterfly, that’s a really nice drawing! Michelle phan looks really pretty. And from what you’re saying, it looks like she knows her stuff too. But I really like your drawing. :) |

as for the makeup, how about using eyeliner close to the upper lashes?
