I came across Bluma Project while shopping online the other day. They're not exactly a "green and groovy" label but more of a socially conscious movement.

This fashion brand provides work and a means of earning a living to women in impoverished places in Rwanda and Ghana. The pieces themselves are stunning and surprisingly affordable. Many are made of natural materials such as wood, glass and paper.

More items from Bluma Project.

I guess this is like the paper jewelery in one of the threads here, but I find these ones more wearable!

I like how the colors and style is muted, but it's still eye-catching. I agree that it's more wearable than the other paper jewelry; more suited to everyday use. :)

I love the use of colors. They made colors that are usually dull and drab contrast in a way that is very pleasing to the eyes. Beautiful creations.

I have seen a lot of eco-friendly projects like Bluma Project. One of which is a cooperative in the Philippines that makes rosary out of paper beads. They also sell other accessories. In fact, I bought a few of them when I went there last month for a vacation.

I just wish I have the talent in making accessories like that. The colors and design are awesome. I can imagine myself wearing those with a maxi dress. So pretty and perfect if you are to go for an island getaway.

Gotta agree with you there janejinx. I wish I knew how to make paper jewelry too. Actually, I think I *can* learn but I just don't have the patience for it! LOL

I'd rather buy my jewelry than make 'em. Hey, someone's gotta be the consumer! :)
